Salt Lake City, UT — November 5, 2024  —Filevine, leading legal work platform, is thrilled to announce the deepening of its C-suite bench with the appointment of Dr. Cain Elliott to Chief Legal Futurist. Within this new role, Dr. Elliott will lead a first-of-its-kind initiative to explore transformative technologies and make the most promising new tools accessible to legal professionals.

While Chief Futurist Officers may be new to the legal industry, they have been helping companies become more future-proof and outperform their competitors for years. With a focus on innovation, market trends, and strategic planning, Chief Futurists identify opportunities for innovation, analyze the competitive market, and help predict which disruptive technologies will become part of our shared future. In an industry known for being traditionally risk-averse and cautious toward change, Dr. Elliott’s new role is among the first of its kind and will set the standard for legal tech companies to come.

For the past five years, Dr. Elliott has led a small skunkwork team of Legal Futurists at Filevine, developing innovative solutions tailored to the evolving needs of legal professionals in the 21st century. His tenure has been marked by significant achievements, including spearheading the creation of ImmigrationAI, Filevine’s AI-enhanced immigration too, and influencing the development of Filevine's suite of AI solutions.

“The Legal Futurists are at the center of the most innovative company in legaltech,” said Elliott. “Our goal is to push ourselves and our colleagues to make hard things easier and legal work better. This only happens by being surrounded by a radically talented and ambitious team.”

In his new role, Dr. Elliott and his team aim to deliver world-class innovation to the 125,000+ customers who rely on Filevine as their daily legal operating system. He will continue to challenge the legal community to embrace technology without losing sight of the ethical responsibilities and traditional values of the legal profession. Elliott adds: “Our team envisions a future where law is defined not by automation alone but by a powerful partnership between legal professionals and transformative technology. I hope to cultivate a culture where both technology and tradition can coexist, pushing boundaries while honoring the rich legacy of the legal profession.”

Prior to joining Filevine, Elliott served as the CIO at Margolis Edelstein and taught philosophy at a variety of institutions, including the University of Pennsylvania, the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the University of Warsaw. With a Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph.D.) focused on creating new ways to learn and manage knowledge, Elliott is uniquely poised to advance the future of legal work.

"Dr. Elliott’s unique background, legaltech obsession, and visionary leadership will help position Filevine as a front-runner in shaping the future of legal work," said Ryan Anderson, CEO and Co-Founder of Filevine. “Tomorrow’s generation of legal professionals will be better equipped to meet the challenges of the profession thanks to the incredible work of this team.”

As Filevine expands to support diverse legal disciplines and new markets, its investment in the futurist team will help ensure that their products are growing alongside their customers. Through deep, thoughtful research, this team will anticipate the future needs of Filevine’s clients, demonstrating a commitment to their continued success.
